Threshold Building Inspections

Threshold buildings are described in the Florida Building Code “In accordance with Florida Statute, any building which is greater than 3 stories or 50 feet in height, or which has an assembly occupancy classification that exceeds 5,000 square feet in area and an occupant content of greater than 500 persons.” Threshold buildings are subject to more than the minimum number of inspections required by the Florida Building Code.

What is the purpose of the Structural Inspection Plan? To provide detailed inspection procedures and schedules to adequately inspect a building for compliance with the provisions of the Florida Building Code’s permit documentation.

Who can perform these additional inspections? Professional Engineers and Architects whose principle practice is Structural Engineering in the State of Florida.

  • TRC is fully licensed and can perform Threshold Inspections on projects during the construction phase and can provide the “Final Letter” at the conclusion of the project.
